Sawzall Versus Any Other Reciprocating Saw
The Milwaukee Electric Tool Company made the Sawzall brand reciprocating saw in 1951. This was the first portable reciprocating saw on the market, meaning that the company had all the rights to it for many years. By the time other companies began making similar products, consumers had started calling the portable reciprocating saw by its brand name; Sawzall. This leaked over into mainstream, much like Kleenex is often used generically to mean any facial tissue. People will tend to break the word up when they say it, however, making it sound more like “saws all” than Sawzall. There is, however, a difference between a Sawzall reciprocating saw and other reciprocating saws. As the Sawzall brand has been around the longest, it has been continually improved upon. Often, it has more safety features and settings than any other brand of reciprocating saw. However, this doesn’t mean that the Sawzall brand is the only quality brand of reciprocating saw. Other companies are constantly competing, so it’s important to know all the features a reciprocating saw has before you buy it.
